Ski area

The latest from the ski slopes

‘Offering easier access to the skiing at 3,000 m’ is the goal of the brand new backbone of the ski area, with the Roche de Mio gondola as the centrepiece. From 1,930 m up to 3,080 m, skiers now benefit from a fully renovated link comprising two consecutive gondolas: Roche de Mio then Les Glaciers (opened in 2023). Skiers leaving from Plagne Centre can now bypass Plagne Bellecôte and save significant journey time in getting up to the peak of the resort at Live 3000.

The new Roche de Mio gondola, the centrepiece

With the twofold objective of achieving more fluid skier flows from the bottom of the slopes and offering easier access to the high-altitude area, the Roche de Mio gondola line has been completely redesigned. It now follows a different trajectory with an intermediate station at the Col de Forcle (2 273 m) before continuing on to Roche de Mio (2 739 m). In both winter and summer, this new midway stop offers a wider choice of routes and easy access to either the Plagne Bellecôte / Belle Plagne sector or to the south-facing Champagny-en-Vanoise side.

- Opening December 2025

- 168 x 10-seat cabins

- Journey time: 7 to 9 minutes from Plagne Bellecôte to Roche de Mio

- Skier flow: 3,140 people / hr

- 37 m: height of the tallest pylon (equivalent to a 12 storey building)

- Unique in France: the lift was fully assembled in-house by the SAP*, in collaboration with POMA

‘It is a major change for the ski area. Over and above the lift renovation, the customer experience has also been transformed with the implementation of new services. We are always striving to achieve excellence.’

“Live 3000” summit

In both summer and winter, getting to the topmost peaks 3,080 m above sea level is an experience in itself. After a 10-minute ascension, as soon as the gondola doors open, skiers and non-skiers discover an area that has been developed to offer a moment of contemplative relaxation. Like a refuge with its cosy atmosphere, Le Sixième Ciel proposes sweet and savoury snacks to enjoy inside or on the terrace, with a front row panoramic view of the Mont-Blanc and the Vanoise glaciers. There are also Wi-Fi and photo spots and information boards explaining the surrounding landscapes.

This sector is accessible to intermediate skiers, with two black runs and one red leaving from Live 3000, as well as a red run and a blue run that start from La Chiaupe midway station.

Aérolive, La Plagne exclusive

They look so good in red! The two cabins, easy to spot a mile off, are a La Plagne exclusive. As minimalist as can be, with no windows or seats and a partially-open transparent floor, the experience inside is like no other ascent: passengers stand, securely held by a harness, with their hair blowing in the wind, free to move around and in direct contact with the environment. It’s a front row spot to admire the panorama on an adventure that takes you to Live 3000, the very top of the ski area at 3,080 m.
